21st Nile Council of Ministers meeting to take place in Juba, South Sudan

Members of the Nile Council of Ministers (Nile-COM) comprising Ministers in charge of Water Affairs in the Nile Basin countries are due to meet in their 21st ordinary meeting on Thursday 20th June, 2013 in Juba, Republic of South Sudan.

The annual regular meeting of Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) governing body will deliberate on how to move the Nile cooperation forward and discuss administrative issues including: assessment of the performance of the NBI work plan for the previous fiscal year; review and approval of the work plan and budget for the fiscal year 2013/2014 as well as review and endorse a number of strategy and policy documents among other things.

Minister's Profile:

H.E. Paul Mayom Akec began his education at the Rumbek Elementary School in 1961 and remained there until 1964. Thereafter, he joined Bussere Intermediate in 1964 but was interrupted by the first civil war. He resumed education in 1969 at Wau Intermediate School. Later, he joined Malakal Secondary School in 1972 and remained there until 1975. He joined the University of Khartoum in 1977 and graduated in 1981 with a law degree.

Joint Assessment Mission to Greater Yei River County

Between 22nd and 24th May 2006, a team of five persons including two support staff travelled to Yei County to supervise a number of Goverenment Sponsored Projects implemented by MEDAIR. Medair is a non governmental organization operating in Southern Sudan.
We visited a small water distributio network which serves 2200 people in Lomuku II Village which lies north east of Yei town.
