Joint Assessment Mission to Greater Yei River County
Between 22nd and 24th May 2006, a team of five persons including two support staff travelled to Yei County to supervise a number of Goverenment Sponsored Projects implemented by MEDAIR. Medair is a non governmental organization operating in Southern Sudan.
We visited a small water distributio network which serves 2200 people in Lomuku II Village which lies north east of Yei town.
I really say that Medair has done a tremenduous job because now more women can access water without going through the stress of puping. It is also worth commending that the cost of implementing the facility is equivalent to the cost of drillin 10 boreholes.
There were some school latrine projects equipped with ample hand washing facilities.
However one funny thing is that the Inlet to the overhead water tank is the same outlet to the water distribution network. We strongly recommend MEDAIR to Change that. If not changed, chlorination will be difficult since we do not have a chlorine dosing unit.
